Duplicate Content Again...

There is currently a thread up about duplicate content, but rather than hijack that thread I was hoping for some advice on my situation.

Recently I noticed via WMT that we had 60+ pages on site had duplicated title tags. It should never have happened, we fixed it, and within a few days had some really significant improvements for a lot longer tail keywords across a the product categories in question. It was the easiest increase in traffic in my limited SEO experience.

We also have 70+ pages of duplicate page content for products that are essentially the same but come in a range of different sizes, colours etc.

So now I'm wondering what kind of an impact I might expect from rewriting the product description on each of these pages to be totally unique. Descriptions are 300+ words, so it's no small job. I'll probably do a small product category and test the results anyway - I suppose I'm just a little impatient to know whether this will have any significant impact. Cheers.

The short answer is, the more unique content the better, from the SEO point of view. But whether it is worth the effort depends, not on whether you get more traffic, but on whether you get more sales. You are right, experimenting and testing is the way to go.

exactly the more fresh your content and article the more traffic you earn. Since visitors including Google spiders will find your site active and being updated from time to time. This makes them encourage to visit to check updates and something new.
