Drop down links question..
I currently have navigation links on my homepage at the top which go to a couple of important pages on the site.
i.e. Red widgets & blue widgets. These pages hold important content but i have realised that i dont really want my users to use the pages unless really needed. It is better that they search the main search box on homepage for 'All Widgets'. What i was thinking of doing was having a link on the homepage called 'resources' and then when hover over that 'resources' button, you see a dro down link menu for 'red widgets and blue widgets'. What i want to know, is that from a google point of view, will this new link menu format decrease the 'google weight' for the red and blue widgets pages? The resources link would be on the header and every page on the site would link to it.

You can not suffer fom drop down links alone, if you use a decent drop down technique, such as "son of suckerfish". What can happen is if you place too many drop down links on a newish site, that you will spread weight too thin. What also happens is that Google prefers neat dropdowns, over stuffed dropdowns. So if you sell widgets , don't make your dropdown like this: WIDGETS - widget red - widget blue - widget green But do WIDGETS - red - blue - green If all other onpage SEO is already near perfect then the last dropdown will score better in my experience.
