Say i have a business called "RH Upholstery".

With a view to SEO and particularly google rankings, assuming i want to rank for Upholstery, am i better off with www.rh-upholstery.com rather than www.rhupholstery.com ?

I go for rhuphostery.com, it is easy to remember and type in the browser. It makes your site more memorable to visitors.

I'd buy both. Generally, I wouldn't bother with the hyphenated version unless the domain sounds generic (so that someone else doesn't get their hands on it). But in your case, rhupholstery.com (to me) comes off as a bit difficult to disassemble into separate words and then remember.

So, if you own both the versions, you can put up a logo saying RH-Upholstery or something like that, so people can better understand the word, as opposed to putting RHUpholstery (looks unnatural). And whether or not people type the hyphen, they will end up at the same place (if you redirect one version to the other), so there's no loss of traffic for you.

1fast72nova agrees: I will agree with this and would do the same, guaranteed
Roa agrees: Good for covering visual separation of words and allowing for what people will be likely to
remember.

Dont Always Looks For SEO Friendly

In my opinion , i suggest that it will be better to go for

the second one that easy to remember.

because the search engines strategies are improved to filter the sites and present the good one to viewers.

SEO friendly tactics are changing frequently ,stick with human friendly also , the domain that easier to remember is always be the choice of humans.

And also the Search engine targeted domains may undergo domain devalue in future .
