Does a parent URL benefit from unique hits when they come from a redirected URL?

If I am advertising/promoting a URL which is redirected to another website (parent website) via offline advertising and within online directories, will the parent website still benefit from increased SEO from the the incoming unique hits and will these hits be tracked via analytics? Cheers.

    I'll give this a shot....

The url that is redirected, is it 301'd or 302'd. If 301'd then the parent site would get the juice and yes it would benefit. If 302'd no juice. It would still benefit from the traffic it received.

As far as analytics is concerned, the url that is redirected would not be recorded because it is redirected, unless you did the redirect in the <body> html after you let the analytics script run, that is if analytics is in the <head> section. If per Google direction, the page is php, the recommended location for analytics is near the footer of the page, then no it wouldn't get recorded. It would redirect before analytics runs.

The parent site would, if analytics is installed on it, get recorded.

    Hope this help you....
