Does google care how long articles are?

I am thinking of posting some very long articles on my site, like five pages of a book in one post. Other considerations aside, does google in any way frown upon this?

Or, would google in any way prefer me to post shorter articles?

Does it make any difference from a google seo perpsective?

The page could be as many words as you want it to be as long as you keep one word in mind - RELEVANCE.

Pick a main subject and write about it. If it takes 500 words, great. If it takes 50,000 words, great.

A little tip, if its going to be a lot of content make sure you break it up into easy to read short paragraphs that keep the readers attention. Key here is to be more concerned with HUMANS and you and Google will more than likely never have any beef.

You won't have any trouble with Google, as a matter of fact, my longer pages do better with the SEs than the shorter ones.

I have many articles that are 3000-4000 words. What helps visitors is to use subheads and break it up with an image or illustration or two. Also use pull quotes to break up the long, long runs of text.

You might try adding a table of contents and anchors and see if you get sitelinks.

Thank you both very much for your help. I'm glad to hear that longer doesn't present a problem, and that it can even be a good thing.
