Do image alt tags matter to SE's
Hi,

I recently stumbled across my banner on a PR6 site - i asked if i could change it to a HTML link, however the web guy just said he will change the title and alt tag which SE's still consider.

is this correct?

help appreciated.

Alt tag for image is readable to SEs and will be treated as an anchor text just you get through the plain text link.

Alt tags used with keywords can boost your keyword frequency which can help you in better ranking. Alt tags also helps for being found in Google image search.

ALT tags are treated and viewed as anchor text. Exactly the same. So a good ALT tag will be fine in your case. What I would look into though is the advert placement - you want it seen and you want it clicked. The link juice is just gravy.
