Crawl Errors: 2 errors/ 2 html pages showing.

    Hello Everybody,

I logged into Webmaster tools and under "Crawl" -> "Crawl Errors" i have 2 pages showing that no longer exist in the site, i removed them.
They are showing a 404 Response code on the far right. How do i fix this?

    Thanks.

Thats Right, when a page does not exist you should get a 404 response code.
You should place a URL removal request on Google. That should fix it. When google no longer looks to index it it will not throw an crawl error.

Additionally consider looking for broken links on your site. There may be links pointing to those pages that do not exist now. So if possible remove those dead links from your website. If they are external links it would be a hard job getting them removed. Use webmaster tool to find external links to the dead pages and use Xenu to find internal links to the same.

Should i worry about the image files showing as missing? Will this harm my ranking at all?

Do I need to do a 301 redirect or just ask google to remove them? I am unclear on that...

    Thanks.

These files are there somewhere in the CSS or in the html code. From your report it seems they are in the CSS. Just drop the useless classes from the CSS. That should fix it. Its a job that will need about 15 mins. But you will have a website free of dead links. Even if that does not get you any ranking improvements its an achievement to boast about.

Having dead links around is not good programming practice. They will not kill you but they are not going to get you a hot GF either.
