    Click-throughs

Am I right to think that a 'click-through' is a record of a viewer reading a page, and clicking a hyperlink to another page on the same site? So if I work through a menu system to get to sub-pages these actions will be 'click-throughs'?

It's been suggested Google is interested in these actions since it shows the site contains lower-level material which is of interest to the viewer. I realise that Google knows you've selected a site from its index of sites (sonce you click on Google's proposed site entry), but once you've downloaded the main page how can Google tell you're later requesting sub-pages? Isn't this a transaction solely between your local PC and the server supporting the page of interest - and with no remaining link to Goolge?

Tacking code is on every page in a site that uses google analytics properly.
Frankly, I wonder who Frank is and why he has his own adverb.

There are many possible ways google can get this data. Ie Google chrome would give it to them The Google toolbar would also give it to them.

As to whether it is affecting SERPs there is no consensus. Google says it uses the data to improve its algorithm rather than directly order SERPs. I know many who believe it is now a ranking factor in at least some type of searches.

Personally I do not know but I think if this type of data is being used it would be in a fairly complex way and not just a simple one…

Somewhere in the web you have heard about CTR(click through ratio) in terms of adsense and adsense like networks estimates the clicks. This is the same logic.
