Cheating Competitor?

I finally moved from around page 80, to the top of page 7. This is great.
I noticed a competitor that used to be below me, say page 81 moved to page 3 at the same time.

This competitor's website is only 1 page. Absolutely no content. Literally 100 percent keywords, over and over again. All links on this page lead back to the same page.

Will this so called website disappear eventually on its own?
What can I do, just ignore it for now?

Ignore it forever. You have no control over it.

Focus on what you control. Focus on doing your best. Every minute you spend worrying about trash sites like this your smarter competitor is working to eat your lunch.

I spend zero time worrying about competitors and 100% of my time working to kick their ***.

Don't be afraid to use the google spam report tool. Worst thing that could happen is google ignores your request.

Your competitor has what is called a minisite. You will have seen opt in pages that are one page sites as well. It is easier for him to focus on his on page SEO and backlink generation because it is only one page.

I would not get too stressed about this. He is doing his thing and you are doing yours

Focus on improving your on page SEO and generating quality back links to your site.

You can also look at what this person is doing with their site and learn from it

Hmmm I am not so sure that this is a good idea. I do not think drawing attention to yourself from google is a good idea. They may go over your site to. They may change something for all the sites that come up in the SERPs for that kwd. They may........ Personally i agree with EGOL ignore them there site will have an extremly high bounce rate and should fall of its own..

The tool is anonymous.

It doesn't ask for your personal information or even your website.

It should be used when ever you encounter a case of a website using shady techniques to rank higher. It doesn't really matter if you are googling your keywords or doing a legitimate search for some knowledge, you find a site doing shady stuff report them.

If we never reported any one how would google collect data to fine tune their algorithm?

The site the original poster is talking about may be a legitimate site, but if he goes over the spam report tool and the site matches any criteria that would be raising alarms he should report him if he has the time to do so.

I know when I use the tool I personally only report obvious issues and let the ones that are just over the border slide.

It's like with the police....the good guys can't catch the bad guys with out tips from the community.

I would definitely just ignore the site, they probably won't be much of a threat to you as their bounce rate will be sky high. In time I bet their position will fall, but it may take a while

Use the tool:
http://www.google.com/contact/spamreport.html

About 3 years ago I had a guy occupy 5 of the top 10 spots with spammy sites fed by a huge amount of links from his postings on .edu sites.

I submitted a differently worded report every 2 weeks for 3 months. Google finally cleaned up the mess.

Don't know if it was my reporting, or Goggle was just slow, but it made me feel better

I don't mind competing on a level playing field, but I'll report a spammer every time. As Trump would say, "Nothing personal, its only business".

Ed

Thanks for all of the answers

I just passed this competitor. I never did report him or anything. Original content and some basic seo I have been picking up from these forums is starting to pay off. From page 90 to page 3 in google, and from page 35 to #12 in yahoo. All in about a month. Cant wait to get into the top ten.
Thanks again for all the answers.
