Our hardline internet connection we get from the local Telco was down today, so I used my cell phone as a hot spot. I checked our keywords and I nearly wet my pants when I noticed our map listing dropped from "A" to "E". We have been "A" for 8 years now. Of course I flipped out. However, I noticed that when connected to the internet via my cell phone, Google was showing my location as Miami, Florida. I assume that the IP address from my cell phone provider was coming out of Miami.
I used the google tools and changed the location to our actual city (by entering my zip code). The search results page refreshed and the map listings and even organic listings changed. And we are "A" position. And #1 organic.
Has anyone noticed this before? Such vast map listing results displaying based on wrong location?
