Hi everyone!
I hope someone has some hands-on experience regarding this: I need to launch a website offering a pretty seasonal product in the next few days. However, the domain name I want to use will be available for me only in July. I'm thinking about registering a .com for the short run, and then in July, redirecting it to the final domain. What do you think? What makes me a bit anxious about this is that after opening the site, people will bookmark/link the temporary domain, which will result in links being spread between the temporary and the final domain. How big a problem will this cause later? Regards to all! Nub |

I dont have hands on experience on this.
But why don't you register a new domain and use it permanently? Why bother changing it? If you're thinking for SEO purposes, it may cost you more. |

Because the domain I'll get in July is a country domain, targeted at the specific audience.. However, I cannot get this domain due to a few weeks of unavoidable paperwork |

If you're going to buy a different disposible domain anyway... look for a previously promoted expired domain say at tdnam.com... it will certainly increase your traffic ratio in the short & long term... and in a month when you have the other domain you can: 1. 301 re-direct the newly acquired expired one or 2. make it into an info site that banners ads for your commercial domain.

What about the links pointing to the disposable domain? Will google count that in when calculating the rank of the final one? (Supposing a 301 redirect from the disposable to the final) |
