Can You Help Pls... Lost our rankings like never before by Penguin 2.1

    My URL is: goo.gl/V15zdn

    Hello,

Past in May 2013, by Google Penguin 2.0 our website was slightly affected (dropped in rankings). According to some Web masters guru's reviews we have listed out the back links pointed to our site in Google Webmaster tools and some other backlink tools like ahrefs.com and filtered our backlinks and pointed Disavow for some directories, Porn Sites & completely shut down websites. Those links were disavowed in Sep 16 2013, after recent recheck still they are visible in Google Webmaster Tools, (Links to our Site).

We were surprised to see some of the links which were pointing to our site from Blogs, Adult sites, Spam pages & forums that were posted with out our interference. Still those type of back links from various un-related keywords to our site are keep on increasing/Updating in huge amount.

Example: You can see a comment (posted by someone) here www.greyfriarspub.ca/_blog/Kitchen_Korner/post/How_To_Get_The_Perfect_Grill_Marks_/?page=150

    My page :: India SEO

By the recent Penguin 2.1 Update, we got hit like never before. There was a huge drop in rankings for Main keywords of our website & Traffic has drastically come down.

    Here is my question comes,

    1. I can't figure out What's the main reason for penalty of Penguin. Is it poor quality of links pointing to our site or some thing else more??

    2. How many days does Google takes to consider the disavow links placed by a webmaster??

    3. what are the possible reasons/strategies to recover from this hit?

    Pls Help. Thanks in Advance..

1 - Since you submitted your disavow have you received a letter back from Google in your webmaster tools? Did you also send in a reinclusion letter? You should think about sending a letter in about 2 weeks after your disavow. You will receive a definite reply to this.
2 - It can be up to a few weeks. This is why you should send the letter about 2 weeks after sending in the disavow so they have had time to review it and it acts as a reminder.
3 - Depends on if the disavow works. If it does not work, you may want to have someone analyze your backlinks further to see if you are catching ever pattern and poor quality link you should.

Web spam was and still is a big problem for Google which they have been addressing since early last year. And if your now wondering what brought you down you've had your head in the sand the last year and a half.
The first thing I'd do is wait and let this new algo settle in, give it another 5 or 6 days. Then see where you stand and go from there.
You need to know what happened before you can create a recovery plan.

No the website is hop around india, just for some reason the anchor text used in the links is SEO India.

But hop around india, you told Google that lots of your links were spammy. There were probably even more than that out there and with Penguin 2.1 Google has said "Yes, they are spammy".

If, in Google Webmaster Tools, you have received a warning telling you your site has been put on hold because of all your dodgy links then it is time to move domain. Otherwise it's just time to get yourself some decent links. You have been moved to where you should have been ranking, no more.

There is no way to stop someone else creating links to your site from wherever they please and it's also very possible that one of your competitors has been reading about negative SEO and trying to see if it works on you.

The critical thing is this ... this looks like a spamming robot out on a mission and is there any way it can be linked back to you? Although you say it has nothing to do with you I have heard this before and then a little while later it is followed by "well ... we did once hire this SEO company and we're not sure what they did." type comment. Would that, in reality, apply to you? It could even be something that your host (net4india?) is up to because you ticked some box as part of some package.

As Google has not sent you a message chances are it doesn't think you are the guilty party ... yet. In this case someone has been spamming away and you have been benefiting, even if you didn't realise that was why you were getting so much traffic, and now that benefit is gone.

What I would be looking for at the moment is a trail. Is there anything left in the spammy links that gives you a clue who is doing this?

    Doodled,

Ya you are right. We thought the same "competitors has been reading about negative SEO and trying to see if it works on you".
No, there is no clue left in spammy links pages, all those links were created automatically with some (X,Y, Z) Names. You can check here:

    hi Adventureraj

might be there is some spammer using software like comment blaster for negative seo. Also i have noticed the same type of comment for "justhealth" website in same sample link you mentioned in last post.

"Arletha commented on 11-Sep-2013 08:06 PM Energetic site!

Feel free to visit my blog post :: SEO India"

So now with all this you should try to:
1.) work on generating some quality content and quality link in your niche.
2.) Download all links using GWT,majesticseo,Ahrefs.Organize them. Do link audit and link analysis. Identify which ones are unnatural and flag them in your spreadsheets for removal.
3.) Contact tall of these website owners of these spammy links and request them for link removal.
4.) Wait for few days for the confirmations. Not all but hopefully a significant %age of site owners will help.
5.) Use DT to remove the remaining links
6.) Wait for next algo update.

    Good Luck!!! ;)

    Hello Alexford

First of all Thanks for your analysis and Rply.

Ya True. I too noticed the same thing. couple of Websites like Ours, Justhealth & quikshiptoner etc sites are posted by various id's in spam websites/forums.
We are planning to Disavow those Spam links but recently google has stated that disavowing tool can harm your website performance. source.
Does Google harm us if we block the spam websites by using DT ??

Don't agree with most of this. If there is a robot out there creating bunches of links every day you will spend every waking hour tracking each one and requesting its removal instead of running your business ... which is probably what your competitor wants you to do!

Contact the owners? Most of these sites are forgotten blogs and forums, unmoderated and unmanned. That's why they accept endless spam. There is no one there to contact. And even if there was, as they haven't taken time to remove their own spam, their hardly going to spend their time tracking down comment 4,678 just because its the one with your spammy link and you asked them to.

Use DT? Too late. By deranking the site Google has already said the links are spammy so why tell Google what it already knows.

One possible line of action is to contact the other websites who are also victim to this activity and see if, between you, you and work out who is behind it.

Hate to be cynical but in 99% of cases it is you. An SEO company you hired that had a hat blacker than midnight and you really don't want to admit it.
