Can Page anchor links be spidered? (<a href="#here"></a>)

quick question - will internal links that link to an area of the page be spidered by google?

i found an image gallery that updates the url when you click and image but doesnt change the page - it just adds #image_name to the end of the url

i'd like all my images to be seperately spidered and i think this may be a good solution.

i could potentially create unique title and meta tags based on this #image_name on the end of the url too to help seo

the question is... does google follow these links?

Yes I think so.

You can do better thing is include those links in your xml sitemap and upload to Google Webmaster Tools.
