Cache refresh?

Hey all - I was wondering if anyone new how long it takes for cached pages to be refreshed and dead links to go away. The reason I ask is two-fold:

1. We have a number of links on other web sites that have yet to be picked up by Google (even though they have been there for over two months now).

2. Pages that have not been on our website for an equal amount of time (ie: two months) are still being cached by google.

thanks

No one can predict that. I think not even the staff from Google because the process is automatized.

Yeah wish I knew too. I have the same old pages in their Cache going on two months too and before that they were updating at least once a month. are you in the states? I am and was wondering if they are just working faster over in Europe. I've even left old pages up in case they come through them but have severed the links to those old pages from my updated sites. Once the traffic slows from them I'll remove them, but most of my users don't understand the net well enough if they get an error they are just gone. Sure wish they'd hurry up with it. anybody else having this problem?
Susan

this is supposed to be a faster way to get old pages out of Googles index.
