Dear All

I have a forum on my site which i installed with Snitz and am thinking of adding a blog to the site for articles and also so that visitors and customers can see info on areas and travel related themes. I was wondering whether I should replace the forum with a blog? Keep the 2 of the them? Also what blog software to use? the website is www costaricaholiday co uk

Blogs and Forums have similarities. You can post a comment, and comment on other comments and so on.

However, if you really need to compare blogs vs. forums than forums are highly structured. It includes index of Topics or Categories which can contain other sub-topics and then comments by forum users. On the other hand blogs are collection of posts or articles, normally structured or organized by category.

Probably the most significant difference i can see is the RSS. With blog you have an ability to syndicate your blog content to anyone who wants to subscribe it.

In summary, Every channel has its own value in terms of search engine optimization.

Depends on your goals.
First of all I wouldnt replace anything by anything just add things.
A forum is good for discussing things like here whereas a blog for me is more an information source with the function to comment things.

A forum allows everybody to open up a topic to talk about. A blog is written by one or some persons and anybody can comment.

In summary, if you want your members to discuss take a forum, if you want to inform your visitors on a regular basis and give them the opportunity to tell their thoughts add a blog.

A blog is more like a diary, where you can write abt your life and day to day happenings if its a personal blog that is. And you can use a blog as a content management option i.e Article posting etc

A forum is a community comprises of like minded people to discusses and exchange ideas abt a certain topic and all its sub topics.

ANd abt blog software i would recommend "wordpress"
