Best Way to update homepage?..

I just wondered how most people would advise me in updating my homepage with a view to giving Google and users some fresh content.

I have my product/service in the top half of the page and then i have an idea to display either a type of Blog or News item going
down the page on the homepage.

Should i be searching for news topics daily, copying and pasting
the first paragraphs giving users a chance to go to another page on my site to read full article ( with a credit to original source)
or should i just be implementing some sort of RSS feed to do this automatically and if i did, would it have the same positive SEO effect?

Copied content is a fresh content for your site but not for Google... it already has this information in the index.

So why would Google need to put you up in the SERPs? If your pages will not have enough PR, they will go into supplemental, so the pages will be worth nothing.

fair comments.. maybe i will just have to create something each and every time..

But if you were updating a page on your site one day with 'part' of another page on your site.. would that have any benefit?..

i.e. you have a product on the site.. and that page also lets users see what products other users who viewed that product could see.. ( displaying part of the content from another page)..

would that be any good?

I do agreed that 'Content is King'. However it doesn’t always seem to be so.

Please read post of Darren Rowse about "How Much Does Fresh Content Matter in SEO?" at http://www.problogger.net/archives/2007/05/19/how-much-does-fresh-content-matter-in-seo/ with example.

MySpace Orkut
I think fresh content invite Google to crawl the website again and again and because of this there would be less chance for page to be supplement on search engine.
