Best strategy

Hello,

THis question concerns a strategy that i am thinking of for a new webshop we are opening.

In this shop there are 4 main productgroups which also happen to be the most and only relevant searched keyword terms. Lets say im selling interior design categories:

- sofa's (100.000 hits a month)
- chairs (40.000 hits a month)
- tables (40.000 hits a month)
- shelves (20.000 hits a month) (dont know if its the correct english word, but you get what i mean right? )

Competition on these 4 keywords is medium, where there is a specific shop for chairs already which seems pretty sollid when looking at its SEO, but a second place should not be impossible at all. My shop is pretty specific in this industry, so I am thinking of creating:

- sofasupply dot com
- chairsuppy dot com
- tablesupply dot com
- shelvesupply dot com

where all four websites would mainly contain its specific products but they would be all heavilly linking to each other on all pages. The shops would be way more specific, but they would also contain a lot less content then when they would be gathered under one domain.

So should I:
- differentiate on four domains,
- take one domain and optimise on these four keywords
- take one domain and optimise for one of these keywords

If you need more information please let me know.

You'll find that the best and easiest method would be to use one solid domain name, and targeting the sub-pages for each category better. Let me explain better....

Example...

www.domain.com/category-1/ - Keywords\Phrases Set 1
www.domain.com/category-2/ - Keywords\Phrases Set 1
www.domain.com/category-3/ - Keywords\Phrases Set 1
www.domain.com/category-4/ - Keywords\Phrases Set 1

Build links, structure content with heading tags, internal link each specific category page for the keywords your interested in.

Thanks for your awnser,

So differentiating on different domains does not help? For instance, if I would manage to get PR 4 for all for domains and (also) the mainpage would be optimized for that specific keyword, would it not more likely become number one instead when it is used as a subpage on one PR 4 page? A main category subpage most likely is one PR lower then the mainpage so would this not be less powerfull? Or will I be fine when i just focus on these four main keywords with a 'smart' routing plan (with most of the links going to these 4 pages with the correct keyword??)

Thanks!

Nick

Hi,

Now that I read your awnsr again I see that it is easiest. But what I am also very much interested in is which one is best from an SEO standpoint when you want to be nr1 on all four keywords?
