Backlink query
Hey guys,

I was looking at my website earlier and I had a thought, which is probably a very easy question for you guys.

If I receive a backlink from a page but that page isn't indexed, will that backlink 'count'?

It depends on the reason why the page is not indexed: if it is too new and have not yet been discovered by Google, the backlink will not count until Google find the page.

But a page can also have a <meta name="robots" content="noarchive"> and its content will not be kept in the index, but the links will be followed and count as a valid backlink.
