backlink count diminishing

Over last ten days, i observed that the backlink counter diminishing on daily basis in wmt. Few days back i had over 1800 links to my site. Over last few days the count stated reducing on daily basis and currently stand at mere 120.

I dont see any canonical issue neither any sorts of protocol issue. The link not showing in wmt still exists. No changes in design. So what could be the issue. Does somebody evrr gone through such scenario.

Ok i just got my answer. There seems to be error with wmt. I should have tried hard to get my solution before. Nevertheless hope any body visiting this forum in search of this problem. This thread would be useful.
