Automotive Site (Google Index?)
Hello All,
I’ve written a successful automotive question and answer column over the years and have decided to build an automotive information site surrounding it. I’m new to website development but learning fast. I would appreciate any and all assistance, advice and tips on SEO or anything else that may aid in creating a successful site. Right now I have a question about Google indexing. The site is verified, I haven’t submitted a sitemap because I’m too far out from completion, but I do have a few competed pages that are well-linked (internally). The site has been crawled a few times but Google but still only shows the home page as indexed. Is this something to worry about or is there just too little for the spiders to work with at this point? I’ve also changed a few page URLs trying to add keywords, and wonder if that could be the major reason for only the home page being recognized. Again, please, feel free to check out my site and offer opinions. This means a lot to me and I want to do it right. Thank you, autotech2 |

Google knows your site is not complete, it means those pages can either have no links pointing to it or no content. The best way to submit a sitemap is after all things are being done. So that when Google crawls the site, it will enable it to index faster because of good internal linking and completed content. Other reasons , is that it is still on the stage of being of indexed. IN this case, keep developing the site, this is normal. |

Actually most of the other pages then the homepage lack content big time.. Since you are still adding stuff to the website, I would recommend to finish that off first, then submit a sitemap at GWC {google webmasters central}..
As soon as sitemap is downloaded by the bots, all the pages would come up with the Site: command.. Yahoo shows another page in addition to the homepage.. the track is right.. go straight, keep on adding content, blank pages are seldom crawled by Google.. --LKS
