Arachnophobia - Get these spiders off of me!

I ran a spider simulator through my website and the word page comes up like 60 times or so. This is because on the homepage we have a "jump to page #" drop down so customers can find a specific page of our catalog. I then ran a keyword density test and our #1 keyphrase is being dwarfed by the density of "page." Then I ran a search in Google for "page" followed by our #1 keyphrase. Oddly enough we are ranked higher in that search than with just our keyphrase alone.

Ultimately I would like to know if there is a way to keep the spiders from viewing specific content on a page. We block the spiders from a few specific pages, but was unsure how to prevent them from reading a particular part of a page. Obviously I wouldn't want to keep them from our homepage, just irrelevant information. Hopefully one of you SEO geniuses out there can shed some light on this for me. Thanks as you guys have all been great around here. Before I even search for an answer I come to you guys first. Thanks again

Be careful with this its touching on cloaking.

If you can find an alternative reason to put this dropdown in an iframe then you could do this. SEOs say iframes are not included as part of the page by Google. I have my doubts about this.

You could count it as "graceful degredation" if you supply static content then add the dropdowns in via javascript on top. Google does not parse most javascript.

Perfect! I put the dropdown in java and sure enough when I ran the spider simulator again it didn't pick up the "page" section anymore. Of course I didn't really understand how to do any of that but my IT guy sure did. Anyone else reading this that might have concerns about this method please let me know.
