    Hi,

    As I stated in the we have 2 meta description and title tags. Will this hurts? How Google handles this?

    Thanks

    Well ideally you'd only have one, Google will choose one of them.

    You don't really need meta title or meta description, anyway, google doesn't really pay much attention to this in its rankings. Get your H1, alt tags and page titles right and you should be solid

    For once I have to slightly disagree with Thomas

    Obviously one meta title and one meta description is the way to go, but in case you have them showing multiple times then Google won't choose it will always display the first one it finds. It's like if once it finds those codes once it stops looking for them. That's something I'm 100% sure because I ran multiple test on the matter.

    @Seoauthority
    If meta description are not used by Search Engines to rank a page, Titles are and as far as I'm concerned I see them as an important factor

    I'll be honest, I was being slightly lazy in my typing as I was also on a conference call at the time yesterday!

    There are scenarios where Google will also choose to create their own title/description in which case there may be scenarios where the search is more relevant to the second meta description. I've seen scenarios where Google has taken a link in the footer and appended it to the title. (Creating a title that is completely wrong).

    (We do however both agree, as I presume everyone else will that only having one would be the ideal scenario, I will say that Pierre's answer will in majority of cases be correct, but if for some reason you have different showing then a potential source will be the second description (however, can also be the rest of the content on the page)

    That's something I tried replicating but was never able to except if the second meta description text was actually part of the page content, but I guess it can happen.

    Any way this is another subject, I think the OP got the answer he wanted.

    • ThomasHarvey agrees : I've only found it when there's issues with poorly coded sites, you're too good for it to happen ;)
