The 2nd version for the title is pretty useless. Maybe someone out there looks at it, but what is relevant for Google definitely is the title element (the 1st version).
Make sure you set this title element to a unique and descriptive name for each page and don't bother with the 2nd one. |

The harm is that you waste your time... as well as with the meta keywords. And moreover if your content is well written the meta description is another waste of time. |

The second version for title is absolutely a waste, while the 1st on plays a major part in your search Engine listings

<title></title> is the most important tag for the search engines, use this for the top targetted keywords.
You can use the <meta name="Description" content="..."> to write a short description about your site which will be helpful for the visitors coming to your site. <meta name="Keywords" content="...."> this tag is useless these days. as per your question, if you dont even use the <meta name="title" content=""> it wont harm anyway. |

You have your answer for title/description/keywords (over and over)
![]() As for <meta name="robots" content="index,follow">... The tag is useful but in this example is useless because the default action for an SE is "index, follow". If you want to deny either/both you should use the tag like so: <meta name="robots" content="noindex, follow"> <meta name="robots" content="index, nofollow"> <meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow">

Index but Nofollow?
OK so.....I have searched and still cannot find the answer.
We created a "Myspace Links To Members!" page (all positive profiles) with ALOT of out going links. This is the page>>>> http://www.securitysaint.com/pomysi.html These links are not reciprocal. We want these "links" indexed but DO NOT WANT ANY PAGE RANK LOSS by doing so. None! Can this be done safely? Is this possible? Am I correct that they can be indexed but "not followed" with the code below? Thus allowing search engines to find them, but not count as “out going” or hurt page rank? What is our best option? This is what was recommend to us below. <head> <title>Myspace sites on MySpace.com</title> <meta name="robots" content="index, nofollow"> </head> OR for each link? <a href="http://www.site.com/page.html" rel="nofollow">The Outgoing Page</a> {feel free to include the best code to use in any replies….PLEASE…lol?} The “ store editor” allows override variable” to create a variable for this page only. We have been told this is much better than a robots.txt. Because this is the only page we want to do this with. Please advise. Thanks in advance. |

If the page only contains links that you don't want to be counted, then use the <meta name="robots" content="index, nofollow"/> option.
If there are links you want to use to pass on link juice, just mark all others as <a href="..." rel="nofollow" ... >$anchorText</a> |

So doing all links such as below.....would not allow page rank loss? <a href="http://groups.myspace.com/securitysaint" rel="nofollow">Safety-Self Defense Group Myspace.com</a> |

So would you guys just advice to only use the <title></title> and <meta name="description" content=""> and just remove the <meta name="title" content=""> and <meta name="keywords" content="">, as they then only cause additional loading time?
