500th post and some threads i have found very helpful

Season Greetings.

My 500 post. When I first found this forum I was very pleased. I used to do SEO back in the mid 90’s but had not done a website for years. I had recently started a new company in Hong Kong and were relearning my webskills.

I had started off trying to link swap with absolutely everyone. This was after reading some basic articles about SEO on the web. I joined linkmarket and requested exchanges with every single member. Result I was sent to play in the sand… by google.

Then I discovered this forum. This is one of the best interactive educational resources I have ever come across. My background is in education and business. This forum has people who truly help just for the sake of it. An example - I remember was a person asking how to reduce the size of a wallpaper. Another forum member did it for him straight away. I have seen clickyB write so many htaccess files for people…. You often see detailed responses to questions posted by newbees.

Any question people ask there are always members who will try to answer with helpful information. There are also members who will tell you when the advice is bad. I remember getting flamed by Gary when I posted an ill thought out response to a question. I also learnt from that!

I have learnt so much. My site is now number one or on first page on all three search engines for heaps of combinations of my keywords. People are blown away when I say “pick the search engine, type in any combination of and of the money terms I use and they see my site number one, two or three. They say ‘How did you do that?’

The web now generates about 50% of our new business. We get probably 2 to 3 new clients a week from our website. A new customer for us can be a weekly client for up to 5 years. The ability to get to top of search engines has made not only our business secure, but profitable in a very short time. Our growth plans are on track.

The point being with SEO Chat and all the members here. This would not have happened. We probably would be struggling. Thanks so much guys and gals.

I have added some threads that I have found very useful. I always desire now to try to give back to the forum which has given me so much…….

This is an excellent list from one of the forums great contributors, incdeveloper

http://forums.seochat.com/google-optimization-7/links-articles-and-interesting-info-for-newbies-and-pros-86476.html

This thread gives a great list of links to article submission sites. The benefit of this list is most links go straight to submission page

http://forums.seochat.com/google-optimization-7/200-free-article-directories-60583.html

Here is a great list of directories to submit to compiled by member crxvfr

http://forums.seochat.com/google-optimization-7/list-of-directories-95798.html

In this thread SEO_AM gives a link to a very good explanation of the sandbox effect

http://forums.seochat.com/google-optimization-7/sandbox-semantics-99287.html

There is an excellent post by Garythescubaguy in this thread that gives great suggestions about creating link bait. (By the way Gary great news that you have decided to become a moderator)

http://forums.seochat.com/link-popularity-43/backlinks-where-and-how-110111.html

This is a really interesting thread started by ClickyB on the value of page rank

http://forums.seochat.com/google-page-rank-47/pr-does-influence-serps-105011.html

This thread has a link to a very interesting article by visio on how to avoid the sandbox

http://forums.seochat.com/google-optimization-7/site-age-question-101551.html

This thread was begun shortly after I joined the forum. I was very impressed with how forum members had joined together to carry out an excellent experiment. That in the end had quite frightening results.

http://forums.seochat.com/google-optimization-7/17-000-coop-weight-to-dis-proof-google-bowling-61602.html

This thread contains my favorite post . It is given by Brandell. (about ˝ way down page 4)

http://forums.seochat.com/google-optimization-7/seo-bull-lies-and-overconfidence-93304.html

These are just some of the great threads I have learnt from.

Once again. Thanks all. I hope everyone of the SEO members has a great Christmas and fantastic new year.

Best of luck.
