404 or redirect to homepage, which one is better for SEO?
I have a big affiliate website, but the urls change often. This causes for a lot of 404 pages in the search results, resulting for my rankings to drop in Google. Therefore the question; is it better to redirect invalid links to the homepage or to a 404 page, for SEO purposes?

It is best to 301-redirect them to them most relevant page on the site. Sometimes though this is difficult or impossible, in which case it's OK to 301-redirect to the home page or another appropriate page (e.g. your product catalog). Make sure you use 301 and not any other type of redirect.

From SEO point of view, it is better to use 301 re-direction rather than 404.
