301 Redirecting timescales?
Hi All, an easy one for someone who has 301 redirected before.
Some pages and been removed / renamed, and I have 301 redirected in the .htaccess file, and the redirects work. How long will it take for the pagerank to change? (My Guess is the next PR update) How long will it take for the SERP's to point to the new pages? Thanks, Rob. |

No direct answer on my part but basically it still depends how google will crawl your old url. But if done correctly you should not worry about the number of days it takes.

Its cached the new pages, but the results have gone bye bye, so I guess it will be a week or two for it to realise where the new page is etc.
If you type the old URL, it moves automatically to the new page. |

I experienced redirecting my site to its new domain but I didn't notice how long it took.Actually,I didn't notice it.Now its still the same PR. Some increase and some are not as the update comes.

The PR will probably change easily. A different matter is when the new PR will appear on the greenbar. That can take some time, but it won´t affect your rankings, which is, at the end of the day, what should matter.

Yeah the rankings are the most important, but they aren't back yet. So hopefully soon.

How long it will take for the toolbar PR to change depends on several things, mostly the "snapshot effect" (IE: The next Google update will change the visible PR to match a "snapshot" of the real PR, taken at some time during the previous period / since the previous update). Since the timing of the snapshot is unknown outside of Google (and appears to be fairly random) you may well have to wait for 2 PR updates before you see the changes. Serps will point to the new pages as soon as Google have them indexed; you could speed things up by submitting an updated sitemap via GWT.
