2 different domains?

Hi, I remember reading somewhere that Google will view your website www.yourdomain.com & yourdomain.com as 2 completely different websites because of the www.

Is this true and if so is there a way to tell google (maybe in the webmasters tool) that these 2 sites are the same?

Yes, I think that is true, you can set a preffered domain in webmaster tools, www or non-www(you will need to verify both as different sites). Also you can redirect non-www to www with your htacess file, or in cpanel like I just did.

Hi Andre,

What server is your site running on?

Does it accept 301 redirects via a .htaccess file?

A 301 redirect will be the best option, for now you could add a

canonical tag see here

Yes. Select any style of domain you want then go to your control panel and go to manage redirects page and redirect the other domain to this one using 301 redirect. Note that you should use 301.
