When checking the ranking manually, I get some differences in Yahoo, but for the sake of the experiment we will stick to the information given by the Keyword Tracker.

I've got 2 sites that I could drop a sitewide link into for the experiment - let me know if you want it or if you think it would cloud the experiment.

I think "the more the merrier" but it's your experiment so...

I think it is more up to brandall to decide, as it is his site. So let's see what he thinks...

I don't mind. Point whatever link you want at it. I don't think Google Bowling works, so I'm not too concerned.

The only resource I had available was the coop weight, but it would be a good idea to have some sitewides as well.

Can you tell us the websites and/or age, PR, nr of pages indexed, etc.

Great theory to test .... i like the results to be reliable though .....and im not sure that public is the way to make the reliable ...??

I am PRETTY SURE that google's BLOOP filter does NOT apply to non-competitive nor non-commercial kw's ....

My money is that this one will not tank but the compeitive one will IF YOU MEET ATHE RATIO CRITERIA .... you need to add TWO MORE criteria to your list for the test canidate for the commercial version .....
1) the BL you send them need to account for at least 15% of their REAL LINK WEIGHT ..... and 2) the KW #1 spot needs to sell for over $1 on adsense AND have over 20,000 hits per month

Also .... NO ONE should publish this test here .... it needs to be SECRETE ..... do not assume matt cuts and pals wont MANIPULATE YOUR RESULTS HERE AS PART OF THEIR PROPAGANDA PLAN !!!!!!

You make some valid points regarding the commercial version of the experiment. Didn't have the requirements yet, but yours pretty much sums it up. Thanks.

As for the public/non-public part. Tough decision. Firstly I want it to be available to everyone who is interested, IMO this is something the entire forum can benefit from. Secondly, if Google Bowling exists and works, making it public and let them see the process and outcome, they will be aware of the shortcomings of their algo and maybe adjust them accordingly.

I did think of the possibility that Cutts and pals will manipulate the experiment, but I really feel it is in their benefit to know the real results as well. But you may be right that they will manipulate the results, just to say that it doesn't exists and nobody ha s anything to worry about.

Maybe it's an idea for the commercial version to be updated in a non-public thread on the forum. This way the process can still be documented with dates and when the experiment is over the thread can be made public.

I agree with you on that .... and i applaud your efforts to make a verifiable test ..... i am sure a LOTY of people reading here are VERY INTERESTED in this and would like to SEE A VERIFIABLE test .... .... however it is unfortuniate that in order for those interested people to have REAL confidence that the results are NOT tampered with i personally think it is best if you just keep the URL of the site and the KW's SECRETE until AFTER you announce the results here ..... this way the test is TAMPER PROOF .... then let people know it so they can then feel confortable about it by looking at some historical data like SCREEN SHOTS of the serps which you can keep as JPEGS and post AFTER the test is done .... yes??

Googles engineers already know the effect of their algo ... so if they want top fix it they can ..... but it is pretty clear to me anyway that they are willing to let sites suffer the consequences of their ill advised policy in order to accomplish their objectives and just try to "talk down" the reality of it .... and minimize manipulation by saying thinkgs like cutts comments at the last convention .... that that "used to happen but they fixed it now" .... yea right ....

remember before that their publicist said it could NOT HAPPEN .... now they say it did happen but they fixed it ....
and of course they still say there is "NO WAY" any serp can be manually manipulated ..... ge whiz ..... i got some real nice water front land for sale in NEW ORLEANS and there is "NO WAY" it can ever flood again .... .... any buyers out there??

To rank well you NEED Links! Lots! and no, incoming links are not going to hurt you...

Far now it looks that all those links helped and not caused any harm... YET.

I would still bet that sooner or later a ban / penality will hit the site hard.
