Exclamation 12 domains redirecting to one site

Can we use more use more than 10 domains with 301 redirecting to one domain homepage? i know we dont need it but my company wants to use all the domains they've purchased. Is that ok? will that hurt a new website?

This can never hurt your website. If it could then I could harm all my competitors by redirecting naughty domains to them.

I thought it made a difference if the domains are all on the same range/server?

Basically it won't hurt, but the use is only when your12 domains have some link juice, some page rank. Otherwise useless...

We're talking about 301 redirect which does not pass the link juice since there is no link. Technically domain that forwards to the target domain will inherit that domain's PR on a superficial level. So it's kind of the other way around.

The only way to benefit from domains would be to set up a site/page on each one and link to the target site in hope it would pass a few points over.

301 does pass the page rank from one domain to the other. (So the juice does flow )

301 Redirect on domains with no value gives no value to the redirect and imho serves no purpose. Setting up doorway pages (pages with little or no content) is blackhat SEO and will be punished by all search engines.

I never tested whether 301 passes link juice or not. Have you got an example?

Perhaps it's a way of consolidating all the backlinks... say you have:

    WS a) 3 backlinks
    WS b) 2 backlinks

Now you forward a to b and you end up with 5 backlinks.
Would appreciate if someone would reply to confirm this. Thanks!

It does passes the links juice as well as initiates PR flow.. though it takes a lil bit of time to get a full recognition, but it works my friend
