I think this is the first time we have disagreed Overtures keyword tool is very very inaccurate even for their own engine. Your right that all keyword tools are going to be off by somewhat because of automated software/lookups etc and not actual visitors however I have found MSNS tool: http://adlab.microsoft.com/ForecastV2/KeywordTrendsWeb.aspx much more accurate. I use the Google adwords traffic data as well which is very accurate because it is actual clicks.

I have two questions... 1. Can this tool be used for key phrases? When I use this tool without semicolons between words, I get radically different results than with overture. I'm not really sure what I'm looking at with this tool. 2. How can you tell if a search term is artificially inflated by a software tool that would automatically search for a particular term? What is the point of having a software tool that would search the search engines to begin with? Thanks, Don |

Let me see if I can explain... Yes automated queries are made which off-set the actual number of searches made. Overtures data is very very far off. On your first question could I possibly see your keywords? If you don't want to post them send me a PM and I will take a look. The MSN tool bases its results on actual searches made in their engine EXCEPT for the Jan, Feb and March which are estimated. Adding quotes to the keywords may effect the data shown as well. |
