Cool #1 in Allin Anchor, what anchor text with new links?

Hi I am #1 for all in anchor, but am languishing in fourth spot for some very competitive terms.

I'm getting some quality one way inbounds to boost my backlinks.

But what keywords should i use in my anchor text? I am already #1, so should I use something different?

    1) how old is your site?
    2) what KWD's are you using?
    2) how many pages dose your site have with primary KWD's?

It's hard to tell you anything unless your provide the actual URL of your website and spot the keywords that do well for it.

You are overoptimized for your main KW because of the age of your site. too many of the same a text in a short time. You can do two things.

    a) do nothing and let time fix the overoptimization that you have done.

    b) get more bl with new a text that you would like to be # 1 for, this will dilute you main a text.

    good luck

Ok, without an URL it's hard to tell but I understand that you might want to keep that information secret... and that is a good thing sometimes.

    Here are a few guesses:

    - If your website is fairly new, you might have to wait a while before Google gives you full credit for your efforts (also known as the sandbox)... also to let your PR rise and the links to your site age a bit and see if they are legit.

    - If your site is established and out of the "sandbox" then it might be possible that you have built a large number of links in a short time, with identical anchor text... and triggering another sort of filter. Again, time can help... but waiting and not working is risky. You might want to build more links, don't change your anchor text around (like most people suggest). Yes this will help "mix it up" but you will then dilute your previous efforts, simply add an extra word into your anchor text.

If you are optimizing for "blue widget" and that was your anchor text up until now, simply build a handful of new links with "big blue widget" or "blue widget wholesale"... see what I mean? Keep the keywords in tact, just add a new variable to it. This will not only keep the focus of your anchor text overall, it will help you with the new keyword combination.

I suggest sticking with the same general anchor text at all times, once you've already started building there is no use in messing that up.

hope it helps, let us know if you climb up a few spots.

Mixing up you anchor text is always a good idea - e.g. widget, widget service, green widget, etc. It helps target secondary phrases and makes the anchors look more natural.
