Stay alert on the "Insomnia" article in Knol

Now that Google plans to develop Knol, it will be interesting to see if their articles get manual preference in the serps.

Today, the Knol article on "Insomnia" is not ranking anywhere. I wonder how long it will be before it appears at the top. Or, will Knol's articles be subject to their algorithm?

I just don't get it, I could of found the same info on wikipedia or webmd. Isn't the point of blogging to come up with original content or a different perspective? This is been done already, why are google trying to jump on a bandwagon that has already left the station?

Google is trying to take over the world... and the little buggers might just pull it off too.

EASY LADYEMMA! You don't want to anger the mighty G!

Forumtyrone, I really don't think that Google has a different Algo for Wiki. I guess anything is possible, but IMO Wiki is built to succeed in Google's current algo.

Wiki is a major force, and Google is building Knol to compete with it. Google will probably say that they'll subject knol to the same algo with no preferences, but that's questionable judging by their history with adsense.

The one difference I see between Knol and Wiki is that Knol is by invite only. This will work for them in that only professionals and industry leaders will be contributing, but then it will hurt them because it'll be more of an effort getting material. Wikipedia just let's it run and build itself.

I think Knol will do well and take over a lot of Wiki searches on all engines. I'm sure their primary motive it to weaken Wikipedia to give them less of a platform for launching their new search engine.
