Exclamation More Google Datacenters Down

FYI:

As of 11:27PM EST 8/3/2004

I noticed 5 additional Datacenters went offline.

They are still offline this AM.

The Datacenters are:

216.239.53.98 ( bank .98 )
66.102.7.98 ( bank .98 )
216.239.59.103 ( bank .103 )
64.233.161.98 ( bank "new" )

A bit of Datacenter History

In January of this year, Google pulled offline it's .100 bank of Datacenters. They were the ones known as ie. gv, cw, dc, ex, etc. There was about 11 US datacenters in all.

At the same time they started up approx. 56 Datacenters US to replace them. That number grew to 61 shortly thereafter. These are the Datacenters that are monitored by the Datacenter Watch Tool (link in sig below).

As can be seen in the Complete Report of our experiment, many of these datacenters have been taken offline starting around May 20th.

To date, 33 of these Datacenters are now offline.

Commentary: Maybe this is an indication that the "search for a new Algorithm is winding down" and the need for so many testing areas has diminished.

I wouldn't complain one bit, wrkalot.

If G became somewhat stable again, we could finally get back to business as usual.

If Google could get back to being predictable such as PR/Backlink updates and stop the ever changing algo it might reyrn better results. Some people become dependant on the same results. It would nice to be able to find a sable target instaed of a moving target !

yeah, i think its very unfair that they keep changing the algo with major differences (not minor)...I have spoke to so many webmasters who had a PR of 6 or 7 and now a PR of 0 or 1. This was one bad update quite a while back, but it could happen again.

I cant remember the saying, but it something like "only a fool let history repeat it self"..its nothing like that but it goes a little something like that.

Perhaps someone could reply with the quote?

Dan

hah, i dont know...some SERPs have been too stable, seeing a few of my competitors drop wouldn't cause me to lose any sleep.

I believe stablity of G would result in more spam that we currently see. A stable algorithm is a predicable algorithm. Given the serious amount of money one can generate for #1 on various keywords, people will go a long way to get it. Unless google keeps changing there algorithm it will be over run by people have figured out how it works.

A little SEO is endorsed by Google, but rank killing is another.

Actually I have far better things to do than play SEO games with Google.

From a personal stand point Google should really clean up their listings a lot.

I've been known to go deep diving in the results when using a large number of terms in a search. This isn't a good sign at all.

The results are still out to lunch..
