Why does this TOPIC have so many page Views?

Could not understand the pageview - popularity of what seemed like such a mediocre post/topic...  : then looking on Google and seeing this http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...google+homepage Quote:

There are a few forum Topics that seem to question whether PageRank plays any real role on rankings
Everyone knows that Title Tags and Links are important If this Thread and Google SERPS are any example PageRank may be the DECIDING factor - when all things are virtually equal  The 1st listing is Google with 34 backlinks and a slightly different title The next Three (#2,3,4) listings all have NO Backlinks The EXACT same title and same basic Bodytext frequency and are PR4, PR3, PR2 in Order Noticed that pattern on many other SERPS too. what?! - 7000 pageviews 12/03/04
