People were doing a search on Google for that query and this topic was coming up #2 and #3

interesting - someone decide to copy the title exactly (even the exclamation point ) for another forum - which comes up #4

The archive has a PR4 - the formated version has a PR3
the copied version has a PR0

This may give SOME insight as to the importance of the Pagerank Bodytext and Title hierchy in the Ranking SERPs of similar pages...

But it is great that it is introducing so many new surfers to this valuable forum!

What is happening is that surfers on Google were putting in

make google your homepage

in the search bar just like it is on the homepage - and - the original post comes up number 3, while in the archived version it comes up number 4

For such an uncontroversial post - it originally seemed very very unusual that the page views would just keep coming and coming and coming - until the matter was figured out... :

But on the bright side - it seems to be bringing in many many viewers and prospective members to this forum - and of course the keyword buyers on the archived version are getting more potential clicks

Lightbulb PageRank versus Titles
There are a few forum Topics that seem to question whether PageRank plays any real role on rankings

Everyone knows that Title Tags and Links are important

If this Thread and Google SERPS are any example

PageRank may be the DECIDING factor - when all things are virtually equal

The 1st listing is Google with 34 backlinks and a slightly different title

The next Three (#2,3,4) listings all have NO Backlinks The EXACT same title and same basic Bodytext frequency

and are PR4, PR3, PR2 in Order



Noticed that pattern on many other SERPS too.

How did you found out this Google trick? Is nice they promote firefox, but I expected more However, hopefully it will be soon.

That is really cool! How long has it been up? Great promo for firefox! Would be cool if the firefox logo was on the results pagfe aswell. It would be nice to see Google and Firefox grow together, and puch MSN and IE out the backdoor!
