Google tweaked search 450 times in 2007

An interesting article here. This is why some websites seem to be on a yo-yo.
http://www.news.com/8301-10784_3-9921148-7.html?tag=nefd.top

I think that they worded that title with a bit of liberty... He is Manber's quote... " Last year we made over 450 improvements to the algorithm. "

The link to Popular Mechanics interview is worth looking at.

This quote says a lot
Quote:
"I wish people would put more effort into thinking about how other people will find them and putting the right keywords onto their pages," he said.
It basically is saying flash is rubbish for SEO and have lots of text on ya home page...

I wonder how many changes go in, then get backed-out for various reasons? Hey - it's all one big experiment

reading the interview really tips us off to the fact that Google can and will use conglomerative user data (I.E. click through) to determine SERPS. Great read Egol thanks

Thanks Egol for the article. I actually foresee a major change in search in the near future. I believe they will be using social networking data. It is because I agree with Udi Manber, increasing populations can force strong social networks and with increasing internet users., many people will be communicating in the net. So tampering social network data can be useful to improve search.

SO if someone will do Google search : "good movie to watch this weekend Cebu philippines" , Google today may not provide a sensible answer: http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&safe=off&q=good+movie+to+watch+this+weekend+Cebu+philippine s&btnG=Search But if you want to ask your close friend or any other friends in the circle. They can give you some important sensible choices. But I still do not have idea how Google will go through this.
