Google removes Local Business Ads??

Has anyone else noticed that Google has removed ALL local business ads for SEO Companies?? Try typing in "LA SEO Company" "Houston SEO Company" "New York SEO Company" or any city for that matter and I'm now seeing ZERO listings!! What's up with that?? Does anyone have any news or word on what Google is up to or if they plan or restoring those thousands of listings??

I'm talking about the Google Local Business Map Listings. I'm in Houston, TX and for the past few days I'm seeing ZERO map listings for any city level keyword with SEO in it. Try typing in "Houston SEO Company" or "Miami SEO Company" and let me know what you see. Where are you located? (although I do not think it matters)

Are you guessing or do you know they will return the listings? Have you heard anything specifically?

Yes guy from google told me.
He said that the issue started in america and they took every listing off the results page. This is everywhere.
there is an actual post in maps help centre also explaining it.
The results that involve advertising agency, web design, graphic designer, marketing..etc all got pushed off.
They have been removing listings for the last two months now.
They are also introducing the streetview into the listing when they return.
I had a number of client experience this in different sectors.
Also The introduce the compulsory google catagory choice.

Wink

sigh...sorry, thought that all of us involved in LOCAL search (google maps) would know about the bug in their algo and what's been happening AND that they "fixed" it once and that had a "hiccup" they then stated and now it's undergoing rollouts in some areas etc etc. etc.

dont' have the time to fully explain but here's links to same, eh!

Barry's blog

this has links to the G help forums where this is all being discussed now...as well as to Webmaster World forum posts where the same is happening....too!

I'd say if you've clients in the LOCAL search arena, you SHOULD test for their own inclusions in both web and maps searches...and note whether those changes have occurred in your own community...too....

Jim

PS remember to 'log out' of your G account tho!

no problems.
this is not a Google dance. more of a clean up.
too many sites spamming page one.
Lots of companies jumping on the band wagon.
Google is logging the isp's that submit the listings too.
Also reviews are being checked for spam.
I have been marketing maps for over 2 years now.
there is now an integration of the map listing with the adwords

If people start promoting aggressively for a particular set of keywords then Google would make sure that noone can target those keywords using "Press Release Promotion" , "Video promotion", or "Local Business Listing".
