Google releases search volume data
Google has decided to release the search volume data to the public. This is really exciting to me. If you want to check out the tool here it is... https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
I don't really want to come off as promoting myself or my sites so I won't post a link to my review of this tool. But if anyone wants it they can PM me. It is free so I have absolutely nothing to gain by answering your questions and comments on it.

Hi Visio,
You are right. This column has tremendously improved our sales process. It's wonderful! In fact we've been using it before it was released. One of our staff has accidently sniffed it out back in mid-May. I was suprised to a lack of attention this post recieved back then. Reference: http://forums.seochat.com/google-optimization-7/leaked-google-code-very-juicy-194094.html?p=576037 Based on the above we would guesstimate the results and now we can commit to a firmer figure when speaking to a client. We're yet to compare the data and see how reliable these averages are. |

I am surprised nobody else has replied... for how many of you who have waited so long for this you don't seem too excited
Anyone else care to comment? |

It is great data. I saw it right after it went live so did not look at this thread.

Strange isn't it... I guess everyone is busy analysing the data for their favotire set of phrases to leave a post here ;-) Or could it be that no one find this useful. (surely not the case!?) |

However, I don't see why they would make up numbers. It is in their best interests to provide accurate information so people are putting their advertising dollars in the appropriate terms. |

Is there any way to see concrete search numbers for previous months? There is no need to look at averages then. If not the actual numbers, can we see estimates for previous months? I would like to see peaks and lows for my industry throughout the year.
It could really help to calm a lot of SEO nerves in slow months... |

Nope I see what the discussion is fully about now, this tool has been around for an age, I see it actually gives figures (like the Yahoo Keyword Suggestion tool used to) now. |

Do people find this much better than using freekeywords.wordtracker.com? I know it is google specific and there seems to be more data but just want to get peoples thoughts on this.

For my industry, yes. It appears Google is more accurate and has good suggestions that wordtracker ommitted. In addtion, the Google tool shows monthly estimates of search traffic that fluctuate each month, while I don't know what time period word tracker is basing their search volume on. |
