Google Mini

I just found this - you probably all know about it already:

Google named a "solution" after me :

http://www.google.com/enterprise/mini/

The "Google Mini"

How cute is that?

Yes, very cute

It even comes with its own user agent string that I pick up on my site once in a while. I have no idea why some companies use it to index non-intranet pages...

It varies per company (to include the admin email), but they all have the string "gsa-crawler". An example:

gsa-crawler (Enterprise; GID-01083; search-admin@example.com)

Yeah, but you are getting the Google search engine. If you have lots and lots of files, an index worth $3k may actually save you multiples of that!

To explain it in its simplest form.

You know when you are looking for someting on your computer and you use the search thing

Start > Search

If you have ever done that you will realise how painfully slow it is and you have to search by the almost exact word.

Well imagine of you had a full network of computers all linked together with thousands of files in each and you were trying to find one file or you had 40 employees that needed to look for files.

All you do is put all your files in one `google mini` and you just search that using their technology and algorithm and it will return the document in seconds.

There is probably 5h|t loads more to it than i have said but that is the basic idea.

Exactly. Just like Google indexes the web, the mini indexes your intranet. The 'websites' are your intranet's computers.

EDIT UPDATE
Get a Google Mini for free! Read it here:

Isn't there any way you get to see how they rank pages?

That would be worth the $3000!
