Google mess making the news

This morning during rush hour in New York, on NY City's #1 radio station, the dj expressed his unhappiness with current Google search results. He said "Google is all screwed up". He then went on to give a few funny results for some search terms.

I was wondering when the poop would hit the fan. Guess it is just beginning to. Time will tell how widespread it becomes.

Ha ha ha! That is funny! I figured that the regular searcher would eventually start catching on that the results they are getting are worthless!

holding onto a relic

You think Google is the end all be all??/ Think again....

There are much better results out there. Hell, MSN and even Altavista yields less spam, more accurate and pertinent results.

It's the folks like you that say...you are on your own...that will keep this tired dinosaur on top and let all of us websters and owners of online businesses suffer becuse of the nonesense Google spits out. Hell, even when things go well for Google, the index is still 2 months old!!!!

Naah...I don't use it anymore, and I let other folks know there are better and more relevant search engines.

You can tell me their algo is best, you can tell me whatever you want....results speak for themselves.

Oh, and let's not even bring up all the spam the index is full of.

I'm with you. Google is Dead.

Maybe i am Dumb but my clients sites have been pretty stable over the last 3 months. They have been moving up and down but not drasticly. All my client listings in the top 20 have stayed in the top 20. Some days I was lucky and ranked in the top 5 for "Discount Hotels" and "Hotel Discounts" but it didn't last. However I have not dropped below 20. Not sure if I am just lucky or if there is something about my client pages that the new algo likes.

I am not loosing faith in Google. When I need to search for something it always displays better results than MSN, ATW or Alta Vista. I have compared several popular keyphrases and Google is still the best IMO.

I don't like the MSN results... all of the sponsored sites at the top of the SERPs, combined with the Directory listings make the REAL RANKINGS way down deep for some of the best search terms

I'd agree that Google has some major issues. Hell, so does Microsoft, but they are still the big dogs on the block and have to be respected for what they have done and the industry wide changes they have influenced. For all the different sites you visit and see "powered by Google" next to their little search bot, you have to agree Google is still one of the most widely used search engines in the world.

For all the negitive comments I'll share this with ya... my company is in a city with almost 3 million people and if you type in computer repair, computer networking or computer store along with the city, we're number one. I'm for the most part happy with Google. A few less spammers and I'd be a lot happier.

I agree to what Google has done...and perhaps MSN was a bad example...but in their defense...they crawl, they index, and they're quick and relevant.

As is Dogpile, as is Altavista, as is (somewhat less) Lycos.

Yeah, I agree Google WAS excellent. Something happened, you and I and all of us know it.

Weeding through 3 pages of irrelevancy because or clever attribute coding is a drag...their search is no longer intuitive, relying on ONE strong keyword out of a phrase to produce SERPS that may or may not be at all what you were looking for.

Naah...until Google gets its act together, I'll search elsewhere, and all the people that look to me (for whatever reason) for guidance will as well.

You don't stay with something because it was once excellent.

If sites like Dogpile and MSN would stop charging to allow new listings I think they could overtake Google. Not charging for new listing is what has keep Google around for so long.

I know, I know.. ya get what ya pay for.
