Post Google is after Micosoft's Engineers & Programmers?

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/ht...oogleweb17.html

Google, the search-engine technology company, has opened an engineering office in Kirkland and is having an invitation-only party to celebrate tomorrow night.

The office will be Google's sixth remote engineering center; the company has others in New York; Santa Monica, Calif.; Zurich; Bangalore; and Tokyo.

So far, the Kirkland office has only 10 employees, but Google, which has become one of Microsoft's most serious rivals, is planning to hire more from the area and allow engineers from its main campus in Mountain View, Calif., to transfer here.

The Google VP is being all politically correct about not trying to steal employees, but you'll probably have some Microsoft employee jump ship to the Google office at some point; if for no other reason than Microsoft employees tend to have resumes that would likely be more attractive to Google.

But I doubt that Google will intentionally try and steal MS employees. Why bother, when newer recruits are cheaper? And if they're looking for senior people, MS isn't the only place to get them.

google will need a few senior MS programmer if they want to compete in desktop search. I remmebr back in 1996, netscape was actively seeking developers with deep knowledhe of MS API.

Send a message via Yahoo to double00
"Steal" is such an ugly word. it seems they (google) are doing what that any other corperation would do. I mean if they can provide an attractive offer to the MS employees, than it really just a battle of the $$$. I would imagine, Bill has been doing this a while with MS.

Gates certainly can provide a heftier helping of monetary persuasion than Google is capible of. Although the designers desire to see different avenues of development may fuel their move.
