People are talking that Google might have lost data and this is the case of the tremendouse amount of crawling going on all across the web.
Maybe Google finally made that boo boo I was talking about weeks earlier.... To much playing around with the index with only monatary intentions.... If it aint broke - don't fix it.... Google had the best results in the business, but it seems things are changine every day for the worse.... Ever since the PPC industry has takes hold of every businesses expence account, Google has decided to reap the rewards by using there index to only confuse those that are not in a position to neel to the God of search.... When Google began - they were about returning relevent results, period. Now they are using there technology to corner and minipulate business owners to fall to there nees and fork over their credit card account numbers. Maybe - there selfish intensions will be the end of them..... They'd better be careful for what they wish for.... Just my .02cents

It could also be that google is up to something. Perhaps a large update or a big change in the algo, thus they are reindexing all site s. I know my site is getting hit pretty hard bt googlebot the past few days and is starting to index pages i'd been waiting for it to find.
Will be interesting to see what happens. |

Thank you msadd...
I could be wrong, like with anything else - but it WILL be very interesting to see what happens in the comming weeks.... One thing that I did notice is that Google is still not re-indexing sites that are usually not updated often... I'm still getting a cache of 3 weeks old, sites that I don't update often... So who knows - I would have thought that if they were doing a entire re-index - that everything would be updated with the newest cace which from the look of things should have been atleast september 26 or 27.... Who knows.... I just have this gut feeling that Google innovative approuch and contant improvment in the name of search is what made them who they are - now they just seem like evrything else....???? Maybe I'm wrong???? |

I'm showing that some links gained in August (extremely non-competitive phrase) no longer exist in the index...
-site:www.sdfsdf.com www.sdfsdf.com kinda stuff. It was there on 9/25 and 9/26, but no longer (as of 9/27)...Tabke might be right; gbot is so frantic right now -- rebuilding index mode. I'm betting right now that the rebuilt index will be quilted in to the upcoming IBL update on Oct 5th. Cygnus

Maybe they are reindexing to overcome their 4 billion pages limit ...

I must respectfully disagree. I do not believe google has the best results. I see a lot of non relavant websites listed in the top 10 for a lot of major key phrases. I am sorry to say but Yahoo and MSN seem to have better results.
Also when comparing figures from searches in google, yahoo and msn, yahoo and msn figures are blowing away google right now at least in the real estate industry. |

I doubt that a large company like Google will just *poof* and mess-up it's index. A multi-BILLION dollar company like this is sure to have multiple back-ups of it's index in case something happens to it's original index. I mean your entire company is based on information..... even the not so brightest people know you have to back-up sensative information especially when it's what your company is based on and if by any chance you are right clasione (which I don't believe you are) about them "rebuilding" the index, all of those PhD's that they have at Google aren't as smart as they'd like us to think....
As far as the crawling goes and the weird results we have all witnessed this before, well at least some of us that have been around for more than 6 months, so I don't know what all the talk is about.... we all know it's gathering pages for a major update.

Not really. PPC and spam are ruling their results for the real estate market. Sites will very little actual content are doing quite well on Yahoo/MSN. Google still has the most relevant results. I bet it's getting just as difficult to rank for any high paying clickthru....
Real Estate, web hosting, domain names, All High Payers.... The harder the keyword - the more they will pay... hence, screw with the index.... :-? |

Most of the deepcrawls just recently concluded; usually there is a few day lag between the final deepcrawls and the IBL update. Plus, Oct 5th would be statistically humorous (ask Randfish). Cygnus |

Perhaps they are just matching the old data with new? I do have to ask, what does IBL update stand for please?

G tends to update the list, showing when you use the link:example.com query, in batches. So every couple of weeks, there is an Inbound Links Update. Some people keep track of when exactly these updates occur, there's a list around here somewhere...
Edit: try this one by bobmutch http://www.seocompany.ca/pagerank/pr/page-rank-update-list-history.php Last edited by Wit : October 3rd, 2004 at 03:19 AM. |
