I acutally just noticed that today- looks pretty cool.

They have some competition though...

Mark Cuban's Blog Search: www.IceRocket.com is pretty cool.
The Technorati Blog Search is pretty established also: www.technorati.com

Indeed, that was released just very recently. A bit too late for Google as most people who are interested in blog search are already using the existing established services - but meanwhile, Google seems to be picking up pretty fast - i see people coming to my blogs in masses from Google Blog Search

Heh, I was going to start a new thread on this based on a comment from andy_f in another thread, but i'm glad I looked here.

I'm curious about how Google identifies a blog site. I mean, how hard is it to code up some user comments? Does G look for the word "blog" or what?

GG probably associates the types of encoding that the site uses and also looks at whether there are XML or RSS feeds that tend to typically be attributed to a blog.

New RSS Tool

My vote would have to be for the new http://www.researchbuzz.org/tools/kebberfegg.pl

It seems to have a lot of potential and its being discussed over at that other forum no one talks about.

Hopefully they'll remove the blog results from the real serps so a person can find useful information and those that want to search blogs use blogsearch.

And how would they do it if blogs get crawled by Googlebot just like any other site? Rewrite Googlebot algo?

I don't think blogs should be out of regular serps... several times I find usefull informations on blogs...

But indead it should be a solution to give them a slightly lower importance.

Put it this way, a blog is just a site built by means of a certain content management system. Any site out there, no matter if it's spam or anything valuable and serious, can be built using this kind of software. To filter SERPs in any way or give blogs less importance just because of the software used to build (and maintain) them makes no sense.

Well, Yahoo! has other ideas with regard to the importance of blog contents, since they announced earlier this week that it will begin featuring the work of self-published Web bloggers side by side with the work of professional journalists in its News Search.
