Well, not entirely true. What can we learn as far as marketing a website with a story?

The talk over this thing has been enormous! Many people were abuzz with speculation and strong opinions. Even though it wasn't true, it gave Virgin and Google a serious boost in awareness (not that they needed it) with one simple idea. It probably cost them a couple designers and artists for less than a week to build the images and concept. They probably also got a ton of email addresses from people willing to sign up.

Just goes to show that if you think outside of the box, you can entertain the world's thoughts with very little money and time invested. Being April Fools gave them an out for this publicity stunt. I wonder what this could stir up for next April fools???
