EBay doubts Google ready to be its rival
"Meg Whitman, chief executive of eBay, on Monday downplayed speculation that its chief business partner, Google, was poised to become its biggest rival.
Talk is rife that Google is seeking to diversify its business after it emerged late last month that the 5-year-old search engine is considering an initial public offering of shares that could value it at $25 billion. " http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistor...usiness/2199221 I dont think Google going after an auction would be too smart. They have alot on their table right now. No need to get another competitor. |

I agree. I think they should work with what they have and make it flawless. Not try to be the king of everything. I think they stand to gain much more by partnering with ebay (google search integration into ebay anyone?) rather than trying to beat them at their own game.
Trying to create an online auction center would require tons of new employees and plenty of other costs. I think they should hold off a bit. |
