Would having 50% broken links on my site affect my google adwords listings

I have had major problems with my newly set up google adwords account in that my ads simply werent appearing much except for the odd impresison here or there, I know my settings for maximum bid and daily spend are up there with the 1st page listings but still it didnt appear.

Its been like this for 2 days, anyhow I just noticed my site had 50% of its links not working ie they just went to a 404 page. I only have 4 page son my site so this was a high percentage of my links that didnt work.

Would this be the reason my ads didnt appear well, I mean i was 60th for a keyword I know i pay enough to be in the top 3 for.

Normally a few broken links won't kill a campaign. However I have seen the editorial team at adwords disapprove a campaign if the overall site wasn't functioning.

Google is hit and miss on notifying about this, so you may want to send something to the adwords team to make sure.
