What value, if any, do you get out of content ads?

Who uses content ads in adsense and why?

We have used them for months. The only value I see is on identifying potential link partners/link sites, found by going through your web logs and checking the content ads source.

Click through rates from content ads are dramatically low for us versus within google. We are only just now dealing with this in a serious way. Most recently I saw a 7% click through rate for google and a 0.6% click through rate for content ads.

The only other value was that content ads tend to cost less leaving more for our budget.

What value do you get out of content ads?

Dave

branding. A low CTR is good in this respect - lots of ads being shown at low cost...

Gotcha guys. If I'm looking at weighing an increased adsense budget and have to evaluate costs versus spending any insights into that vis a vis the low conversion rate for content versus directly into google.

As with anything it will vary by keyword... there are some gems out there in content - and others that will drill a hole thorugh your wallet. hunt for the gems.

So if you are only paying for clicks.

You could use it to your advantage and have a nice logo with your domain name right across the image and just hope that it catched people eye enough to drill it into their subconsious but not enough to click it.
Branding for futire use hoping they will type it into their browser when `mothers day` came.

With careful thinking you could use this as a very powerful way of creating residual traffic and sowing seeds for the future with very little expenditure.
They key would be to have an image that was finely balanced between people remembering it for the futore but not actually clicking on it.

For that you would need to *quote Egol* Experiment, Experiment and Experiment more *end of verbatim Egol quote*.

That's a great idea Mick! If you have the "right" domain name it should work very well.

It's on the job board now.

I do think it would need a PERFECT balance and real analysis to make sure they didnt click the image.

If you could use `mind mapping` to create the image and as you said `the right domain` it would be so tight as to them not clicking it.
You would need to create a serious campaign with nothing left to chance and everything over analysed to death.
I think getting `wit` in on a project like this would be an advantage becuse he has a scientists analytical brain.

Getting a duplicatable pattern to enable you to keep on recreating success would be the key.
