Three column layout with AdSense in middle - Opinions?
I am redesigning one of my websites, and I am considering a three column layout, with adsense in the middle.
(You can see the attached image for a visualization.) I already have a 'rough draft' of the site up, and I think it looks good - the color scheme matches nicely, and I do not think the ads are too obtrusive - but I wanted to see if anyone else had any thoughts on this. I do fairly well (as far as AdSense) on this site with my current layout, but it consists of having the skyscraper ad to the right of the main layout itself, making it barely accessible for anyone using 800x600 since it is a fixed width page. Plus this is considered by many (including Google) to be a bad placement. This is one of the reasons I want to try something new. Has anyone tried this method with success? Thanks for any input!

I like this set up. I think that you will get lots more adsense income this way.... but I bet that your pageviews and time on site goes down.
The only real way to find out is to toss the site up and see what happens. Another concern is that you will have a narrow area for content - but it sounds like you are used to that - I like having lots of space for wide images that don't require horizontal scrolling.
