Stop Google Adwords?
My total bill on google adwords is now reaching $250. I keep telling myself I will keep it going one more day but nothing ever happens. I have had 700 people click to my website but have only had 4 people sign up so far.
I have made the keywords as specific as I could. I'm just wondering if it's time to give up on google adwords. Any thoughts? The site is gfx Image Hosting if anyone can give me feedback on that also. Thanks |

Well, without knowing the keywords you are targeting its fairly difficult to say if they're really as "specific" as you think they are.. If you are in the industry you are trying to target for keywords you may use some that seem very common to you, but not to the average user just cruisin the web lookin for a quick image hosting provider. Perhaps list some keywords that your using to target for PPC or earned?
Your title tag could use some work, GFX Image Hosting i would bet a dollar isnt searched that much ;) "to that exact phrase" Perhaps "Free Image Hosting" (since you do offer 2 weeks free) althought some may disagree with me and i dont doubt that.. or perhaps "Cheap Image Hosting" "Graphic Hosting" along those lines. Alot is determined based off of that and your content.. I understand you must brand the name, Logos and images can do just that, and use h1 tags around the site that match the same style of the title tag, and match your content around it so its not specific to your "company name" and more toward the "object at hand" like hosting graphics for guys who need it.. To be honest, if i was searching for such a solution i would be using one of the ones i listed above.. dont take those as the "golden keywords" but rather a start toward what might be just that, the golden targeted keyword.. This is my 2 cents, hope it helps you out. -Didjital One |

You may want to list your prices in your ads. I am not sure what your ad copy reads. Perhaps you could post and example.
If you are running ads that say "free" and then people get to your site and see it is only a trial, then you are not going to get many conversions. If you run ads with your pricing clearly listed, then they know before hand how much it is going to cost. If it is more than they want to pay, then they don't click. |

now they are pretty targeted, for the ad, but I'm really not clear on what words you are targeting to get these ads?
maybe try putting in the adwords, 2 week free trial and killing out a few words that are repetitive? Have you thought about overture? adwords can generally in my trials and tribulations end up being fairly expensive.. overture targets a much larger audience.. sure google is big.. but as many will say never dump all your eggs in just one basket.. just a suggestion. |

I run a pay for content site. In my experience a 1% conversion rate is the most you can expect. You mention that you are getting a 0.5% conversion already, so that is not too bad. What CPC can afford at your current 0.5% rate?

Hi,
It is probably the phrase that you are using. I'm assuming you must be using something like "image hosting", which would put you in competition with the hundreds of complanies who are targeting the "hosting" term. From my experience, you have to be very targeted to get the best clickthru rate, and ROI. I'm seeing clickthrus of 1.0% to 2.5% on my terms, but I am not running under high volume search terms anymore. When I was, I was seeing clickthrus of 0.2% to 0.5%, and really getting zero ROI! We reach a 2.5% conversion rate on the site, with high volume search terms.
Add a search on your site, and track the search terms leading to sales. then, just use the same keywords in google adwords. Stick to them. Rely on your visitor for keywords suggestions ;-). |
