someone copied my adsense code?
Hi,
I'm a publisher in adsense. I was noticing today that my adsense traffic reported by google is higher than the numbers I'm seeing on my webstats program. I've only just noticed it, and I'm trying to add more url channels so that I can fully track it all... but google numbers seem about 10-20% what I'm seeing in my websites (and it's a lot)... so I'm gonna start watching it closer.. But, this got me wondering if it's possible that someone copied my adsense code (maybe accidentally and maybe on purpose) onto another site... and if so, is there any way for me to find that site? It could certainly get me in trouble if they put it on a site against the TOS or involved in click fraud. Is this a know problem with other people? Should I notify google? -d |

Create the channels to all pages with adsence. If you see an overage, let Google know right away. People only do that to harm your site, but if caught their site will get banned.

It is possible and often happens with numerous webmasters using AdSense on their sites.
If you are certain that someone is using your AdSense code on his / her site: 1) Firstly, send him / her an email to notify him / her that he / she is using your AdSense code on his / her site. Tell him / her in a terse and concise manner to remove it within 24 hours. (Most people prefer to ignore this step if they are double sure that someone is intentionally using your AdSense code and directly go to the second step.) 2) Then, if he / she hasn’t remove the code within 24 hours, contact G with his / her URL that is using your AdSense code along with your Publisher ID. G will then probe into the case, confirm that you are telling the truth and ban the site that is using your AdSense code. It might take more than a week for G to take ANY action against him / her. But it is worth trying. Good luck with your site...

But ... if that webmaster is really an idiot and doing nothing bad in terms of TOS, will that be beneficial for the actual publisher? I mean to say that he is actually making revenue for the actual publisher??

Uhm, yeah, but how can I even find the publisher? My point is that I
think that google should automatically tell you what sites your code is running on. I've tried googling my pub ID, but that doesn't seem to be indexed. here's another question, If you have a url channel (or 2) and a regular channel, for the same page, does google double count those pages? I know about the per/page, per/ad thing, and it's not that. Now that I'm channeling all my domains, I'm still seeing the total number of ads is like 50% higher than what it is for just my domains.... The really weird thing is... the revenue for just my domain channels is HIGHER than the aggregate revenue.. how is that possible? Last edited by dognose : November 16th, 2005 at 11:44 AM. |

Well, google has informed me that having referal buttons on the site mess up the page counts (they are working on a fix) ... so, I guess I have nothing to worry about after all.
