New Adwords Display rules
Hello everyone i have just been looking though the display url policy for google. Does this mean that there is no deeplinking allowed anymore with google adwords or are we still allowed to sent vistors to anypage on the the webiste. So if my site was www.yourname.com. Could me keywords take me to www.yourname.com/contactus or does it have to go to the home page which is the display url. Cheers guys

Testing Domain Names in AdWords to Increase Click Through
Quote:
No. This is a change that will only effect marketers using some sort of a redirect to test URLs. Perry Marshall offers this advice. You've probably already seen the pink warning notice on the entry page to your Google account: Beginning April 1st, 2008 Google will no longer allow you to post a display URL in your Google ad that is not your own website's real domain name. No more automatic redirects. A lot of savvy marketers use redirects to test different domain names. Consider these two ads: (A) Mold Help For Morons Find out if you have a toxic mold problem without spending a fortune! www.StopBlackMoldNow.com CTR = 1.6% (B) Mold Help For Morons Find out if you have a toxic mold problem without spending a fortune! www.GetMoldSolutions.com CTR = 2.1% ....A got 1.6%. B got 2.1%. ONLY the URL was different. This technique, by the way, is one of the most powerful ways to reduce your cost per click and increase the magnetism of your website. Across the board, URL B gets 31% more traffic for the same amount of money. My most successful students have been quietly beating the pants off their competitors for years, by doing this. But if your website is www.GetMoldSolutions.com (your destination URL) but you also use www.StopBlackMoldNow.com (your display URL) you'll probably get a smackdown from Google on April 1. You can still have multiple domains but you need to do it without redirects now. (Kevin Thompson who owns both of these domains does it correctly, by the way - without using redirects.) Bryan Todd wrote up instructions on how to correctly do this so you have no problems whatsoever after April 1 Here are his instructions: http://www.perrymarshall.com/adwords/domains.htm This information opened my eyes. I test domains and business names, but only after buying them. What a waste! Well, now I know how to do some IP work that so I can test for success without having to spend a fortune on domains. What if your display URL has your url in it... but is not an actual page...
For example Display URL: GDScards.com/2007-topps-chrome-football I would use a URL like because "2007 topps chrome football" is a keyword phrase im targeting... But "GDScards.com/2007-topps-chrome-football" is not an actual page on my site... however GDScards.com is my domain name.. Will google stop these ads? or make me change them when i go to edit them? |

As of yet none of my accounts have notified me of any changes. They seem vague in their explanation, but I think you're fine. "The use of sub-domains and additional text within the display will continue to be acceptable provided the top-level domain matches the URL of your landing page." http://adwords.blogspot.com/2008/02/update-to-display-url-policy.html |

Why do you get more traffic for the same amount of money? Using your second URL you have more click in connection with impressions, why do you pay less extra clicks? |
